Part III

Hey E319 Students,

7.) If you kill involuntary or automatic, then is it really you? (eval.- no text needed)

8.) If you commit a sin for a good reason (paradox), is it forgivable? (eval.- no text needed)

7.) When I think of doing something automatically, I think of doing it with little or no thought. Just because you do not think about what you are doing before you do it, does not mean you did not do it. If you kill them, you kill them the fault (responsibility for a wrongful act) is one-hundred percent yours. If the kill is accidental, then the blame (to hold responsible) cannot be linked to you…logically at least. But since little in this world is decided completely logically, the blame is often wrongly associated with someone who should not be blamed. Even completely ignoring blame, if you kill someone the fault is still yours. If you kill someone, you kill someone. End of story.

8)The word “sin” is one with many meanings depending on who you ask. In my opinion, there are three types of sin. Moral sins, for one, are based on a personal opinion and are usually based on past events, the present occurrences, and even each person’s hopes for the future. Religious sin is determined through religion: each religion has different morals about crimes, punishments, and what must be done to fix the sins that have been committed, or what it takes for them to become “forgiven”. The last type of sin is the ones that go against the government’s regulations or laws. To break a law is a sin to some, and may be simply breaking a law to others.
The paradox “forgivable sin” makes perfect sense when used in the correct situation. Murder, or another crime, when committed for a good reason is not one that should go punished. Self defense, or in defense for others, should be considered a wonderful duty that was displayed, rather than a crime committed. Not only should sins be forgiven if they are committed with good intentions, they should also be acknowledged by more people than just the human that was saved.
