Experience, like ringing a bell, is impossible to undo (unless you perform a frontal lobotomy or mystical hypnotism upon yourself). But we can avoid cynicism if we choose to confront our demons and treat each situation separately. Rhetorically, we ought to consider each situation separately, but I understand that we cannot always follow this practice because our emotions can overwhelm our logic. Still, through reflective practice, outside of the heat of the moment (cue Asia song), we might realize that our emotions impeded our logic. Through this realization, we can avoid cynicism. It may be temporary, but we can only try to be good people. Eventually, we hope that it will become our habit. Cynicism, I believe, has a place because it can protect us, but sheltered lives lead to two-dimensional lives.

Because cynicism revolves around the idea of humans being selfish, I think that to a certain degree it is impossible for a human being to not have self interest in something they are doing. People, because they are viewing a situation from their perspective, will always consider how they are effected in said situation. However, the degree of selfishness in a person is minimal due to the fact that a cynical person has a very negative belief of evil emotions taking control of people's actions. It will vary from person to person how much they display selfish emotions but I think that completely trying to eliminate cynicism is impossible. People who are innocent and believe that a person will not do something for their self interest is considered naive. If human beings did not have even a little bit of self interest then they we would not progress as a society. People will naturally look out for themselves, and for cynical interpretation to be eliminated would hurt those who were think of their self interest at a less degree-thus in the future making them cynical.
