Reliability

After commenting on Nick's reliability as a narrator, an inevitable question arises: is Gatsby reliable?

At first glance, this question seems unimportant because Gatsby is not the narrator, but then again, the book is named for him (Fitzgerald 2). How does Gatsby's reliability, or lack thereof, function in this novel. You may respond new historically, rhetorically, or with both.
